Mahendra Singh Dhoni: Should he include Harbhajan Singh in 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka

New Delhi: Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh is yet to get a chance to feature in the playing XI and it is the perfect time for skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni to see what the off-spinner has in store when India lock horns against Sri Lanka in the second Twenty20 match on Friday.

The Punjab spinner didn't get a solitary game in the recently concluded Twenty20 series against Australia and was on the bench against the Lankans in the 1st T20I.

Team Director Ravi Shastri stated on Thursday that the management is planning to give all players a run to get that perfect combination before the coveted ICC Twenty20 World Cup in March next month.

Harbhajan who is considered as the back up option behind the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, needs games to get his confidence high and be ready if called into action during the mega tourney.

India will play in the Asia Cup next and there too the likes of Bhajji and youngster Pawan Negi could get a look in.

Harbhajan deserves game time as the Lanka series is seen as an ideal preparation ahead of the Asia Cup and ICC World T20.

The 'Turbanator' had represented India last in the T20 and ODI series against South Africa back in 2015 and is yet to feature in the starting XI since then.

With his immense experience in sub-continent conditions and his impact in the IPL, Harbhajan will be raring to have a go and use his skills.

This can only happen if he gets match time against Sri Lanka. With two T20I left against the Lankans, Harbhajan will hope Dhoni will field him in Ranchi.

India lost the first T20I against Lanka in Pune and need a win to stay alive in the three-match series.
