Probably Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka will be best platform for me to perform: Manish Pandey

New Delhi: The brilliant match-winning century against Australia in the fifth and final ODI couldn't have come at a better time for Manish Pandey as the Karnataka batsman now has the chance to shine further in the upcoming Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka this month.

Pandey who is keen to do well and make his mark in the Indian team, stated on Wednesday that he sees these games as a source of learning and that it is the best platform for him to perform with an eye on the ICC World T20 alongside future series.

“I see these games as more learning, keep moving ahead. Probably it will be the best platform for me to perform and start looking at the World T20 and the future series,” said Manish.

Pandey's sublime ton didn't see him feature in the T20I against Australia but it helped him get a nod for the series against Lanka.

Pandey went on to add that the knock was a very good start to his international career.

"Getting a hundred at the international level is always a big achievement and it was my first one. So somewhere I have an idea (of what I have done). Looking at the bigger picture, I would say it is a very good start to my international career.”

The 26-year-old also said that he will not be banking on the performance against Australia in the games to come.

"I have waited for long (to play for India) and I finally I got the opportunity I was looking for in the last one dayer. That is how I normally bat. I wanted to make full use of the opportunity and I think I did. So job well done but I won't be banking on this performance in the games to come.”
