World T20: How can India qualify for last four – All you need to know

New Delhi: India are up against Bangladesh in a crucial Super 10, Group 2 encounter at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni's side have beaten Pakistan and lost to New Zealand earlier in the coveted tournament. Out of five sides in India's group, only two teams will make it to the semi-finals.

New Zealand have already qualified and the fight for the second spot hangs in balance with Australia too in the mix.

Here is everything you need to know on how India can qualify for the last four.

*India have 2 points, with a NRR of -0.895

*India is placed fourth in the Group.

*India's next matches are against Bangladesh and Australia.

*India would be through to the next round if they win their last two matches.

*If India beat Bangladesh on Wednesday and lose against Australia, they will be eliminated if the Steve Smith-led side beats Pakistan. But if Pakistan gets the better of Australia, India will end up in a three-way battle for progression with Pakistan and Australia (two wins each) and the net run rate factor will come into play.

*If India loses against Bangladesh and then goes on to beat Australia, they will end in a two-way battle alongside the winner of Australia-Pakistan clash. Interestingly, New Zealand need to get the better of Bangladesh in that scenario. In case Bangladesh overcomes New Zealand, India will see themselves in a three-way battle with Bangladesh and winner of Australia-Pakistan encounter.

*Finally India will get eliminated if they lose both games.
