Kolkata: Amidst the growing clamour for Sachin Tendulkar`s retirement, former England opener Geoffrey Boycott today said the star batsman has enough experience and maturity to get back among runs.
"As cricketers we all have to make runs. It is the nature of the game that bowlers will take wickets. There is no difference whether you are 21 or 39. He has got enough experience and maturity to do it. He just needs some runs," Boycott told reporters here when asked whether Sachin should retire like Ricky Ponting.
On the third cricket Test match against England starting here at the Eden Gardens tomorrow, Boycott said India would have the home advantage.
"Both teams are in very good form. England`s spinners are slightly better. But then you have the home advantage. You are used to the conditions. But I don`t think that anybody can say for sure that India is going to win," he said.
India had begun the four-match series with a nine-wicket victory in Ahmedabad, while England levelled it with a 10-wicket defeat in Mumbai.
"India won easily because of a wonderful batting from Pujara while England batted badly. They began believing in their own publicity in the newspapers.
"They didn`t look at their own players whereby Gambhir was not in the best of form. Sachin also is not in very good form. Yuvraj never had a good Test record. They got a shock when England bowled pretty well," Boycott said.
