New Delhi: The latest television ratings indicate that there is a sudden shift in interest for the Australian cricket fans as the series against India has surpassed the Ashes series in terms of viewership in Australia.
According to reports, television audiences for the current series against MS Dhoni`s team are up by more than 30 per cent on last year`s Ashes. Broadcaster Channel 9 has recorded an average national rating of 1.492 million viewers during the two Tests so far, while last summer an average of 1.144 million tuned in for Ashes.
Australian captain Michael Clarke feels the rivalry between India and Australia is good for the game.
"It will always be very competitive because (between) India and Australia there is always that rivalry," Clarke said. "Both teams really want to win. I think it`s great for the game that we are competitive and we fight hard to win the Test matches, but I can guarantee off the field the relationship is as strong as ever in my time."
