Chennai: Asserting that it is going to be a very interesting World Cup, former Indian captain Kris Srikkanth on Sunday said that the Indian team will be the favourites for the title.

“Overall I think it is going to be very interesting World Cup, it’s very difficult to predict who the winner is going to be and I think everything will start from quarter-final stage, I think the heat would be on. But as of now I am very happy the way things are going and I am sure by God’s grace India will continue the winning streak,” Srikkanth said.

Speaking about team India’s victory against Bangladesh in their opening match of the tournament, Srikkanth said: “I am very happy the way Indian played yesterday. I think Virendra Sehwag was simply brilliant and Virat Kohli seems to be continuing in his great form, which is good news for India.”

“I think overall a great performance as I have always said India has got a great chance of winning this Cup,” he added.

India will now face England in their second game on February 27 at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
