India sweat it out at nets ahead of Adelaide Test

Adelaide: Team India trained for over three hours on Friday to get back in rhythm for the final Test against Australia, trailing the four match series 0-3.

The team would not be able to work in the nets on Saturday though as the good net bowlers would be unavailable due to grade cricket games. The players put in an extra effort following criticism from ex-skipper Sunil Gavaskar that the tourists don`t work hard enough in the nets.

"Tomorrow there is some tournament going on so the good bowlers are not available," an India team spokesman said on Friday.

"We say `ok today we have a net`."

The team would be without regular skipper MS Dhoni for the Adelaide Test because of a suspension for his team`s slow over-rates. His replacement, Wriddhiman Saha said he had not heard anything about retirements, amid media speculation that veteran batsman VVS Laxman was considering quitting.

Asked to respond to a comment from Pakistan great Wasim Akram that Dhoni`s side was an embarrassment to cricket on the sub-continent, Saha`s translator said sharply: "No he does not feel that."

Australia, who lead the four-match series 3-0, will train at the Adelaide Oval nets on Saturday.
