Big platform for some players to make comeback: Rajput

Chennai: India `A` coach Lalchand Rajput feels that some of his players will get a "big platform to make a comeback into the national side" by performing well against Australia in the three-day warm-up match.
"It is an opportunity for each of the players to perform and move forward. Every player wants to perform against a visiting team because it is a big platform for them," Rajput told the reporters on the eve of the match. "For example, Perveez Rasool bowled brilliantly in the two-day match and everyone is talking about his talent. It is also going to a big platform for some of the players to get back in to the national squad. They are aware of it and they will be taking this game seriously." Rajput is confident that the batsmen of his team will make full use of the opportunities provided while facing quality fast bowlers like Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc and James Pattinson. "I think it is a great opportunity for our batsmen to play against such type of bowlers and do well in their professional career. These are the matches that are important for any player making his debut or trying to get back to the national team." A concern however remains on the inclement weather with another round of shower on the day. "I know it is an unseasonal rain. Here the wickets and the outfield dry up quickly as well. Hope there is no more rain during the next three days so that we can have a full game. The players are coming in batches and some arrived in the city close to midnight and even our training and practice sessions have been curtailed today due to rain." PTI
