AUSTRALIA Overs: 21 II Score: 75/3 ( Hughes 53*, Lyon 4*)

STUMPS! The fourth day has ended with Phil Hughes and Nathan Lyon still at the crease for Australia. The former has struck a brisk half-century while the latter has come in as a nightwatchman. Indian batting collapsed today after the fall of Shikhar Dhawan who was dismissed early on in the day. However, they managed to take a lead of 91 runs. They lost 10 wickets for 211 runs after being 289/0 at one stage.
====================================================================================

AUSTRALIA Overs: 17 II Score: 74/3 ( Hughes 52*, Lyon 4*)

Phil Hughes reaches his sixth Test fifty with an unconvincing stroke that goes for a boundary. Not the best way to get to the mark but he’ll take it. It has been a horrible performance from the southpaw so far. Off the the previous over, Hughes played one from Kumar to fine leg for four.
====================================================================================

AUSTRALIA Overs: 15 II Score: 64/2 ( Hughes 43*, Lyon 4*)

Meanwhile, Phil Hughes is batting fearlessly! He has added another boundary to his total off Ashwin – a cut through point. Off the final delivery of the over, Lyon got off the mark with a boundary. Hughes has struck seven boundaries and a six in his innings so far. The six was scored off Ravindra Jadeja in the 11th over.
====================================================================================

AUSTRALIA Overs: 13.5 II Score: 55/3 ( Hughes 38*, Lyon 0*)

Well! Bhuvneshwar Kumar has taken yet another wicket! He has removed Steve Smith whose off stump is knocked off after eluding his bat. Smith scored 5 (19b). Superb stuff from Kumar! In walks nightwatchman Nathan Lyon. Australia on the backfoot now!
====================================================================================

AUSTRALIA Overs: 8 II Score: 36/2 ( Hughes 21*, Smith 1*)

Bhuvneshwar has struck again! This time he has sent Ed Cowan back to the pavilion having him trapped in front of the wickets! Cowan doesn’t look happy with the decision. That was pitched outside off and the umpire took some time before raising his finger. Cowan scored 8 (20b, 4X1). In walks Steve Smith.
====================================================================================

AUSTRALIA Overs: 5 II Score: 29/1 (Cowan 5*, Hughes 21*)

Ed Cowan scores the first boundary of the Australian innings with a gentle push to third man region. Four runs came in that over. Off the next, Australia collected 12 runs –all in boundaries. The first came via an edge from the bowling of Kumar, the next as a result of misfield by Dhawan in the deep while the final four came thanks to an overthrow from Kolhi – all into the account of Hughes! The southpaw, who has been in dreadful form this series, is looking to seize the initiative. He scored his fourth boundary in the next over bowled by Sharma. Dhoni brought Ashwin in the next over and Hughes cut him past point region for another four. That looked the shot of a man who has come in with a positive mind.
====================================================================================

AUSTRALIA Over: 1 II Score: 2/1 (Cowan 0*, Hughes 0*)

And Bhuvneshwar Kumar has struck in his first over! Off the second delivery of the over, David Warner edged an angled delivery that was going away from him. That edge failed to carry to first slip. However, off the next, Warner edged it to wicketkeeper MS Dhoni who accepted the catch with both hands. Warner scored 2 (3b).
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 132.1 II Score: 499/10 (Kohli 67*)

That’s it! Peter Siddle has picked his fifth wicket in Pragyan Ojha. A full length delivery and Ojha has been bowled. India have been bundled out for 499 runs in their first innings meaning they have a lead of 91 runs.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 130.6 II Score: 493/9 (Kohli 61*, Ojha 0*)

OUT! Peter Siddle has taken his fourth wicket in Ishant Sharma. Outside off and Sharma pokes at it. Ends up edging it to keeper Haddin. He goes back to the pavilion without disturbing the scoreboard. Pragyan Ojha is the new man in the middle.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 129.6 II Score: 492/8 (Kohli 61*, Sharma 0*)

OUT! Moises Henriques has dismissed Bhuvneshwar Kumar! A short delivery from the bowler and Kumar is late to get his gloves out of the way of the delivery. Keeper Brad Haddin takes an easy catch. He scored 18 (57b, 4X2). Ishant Sharma is the new man in.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 125 II Score: 479/7 (Kohli 50*, Kumar 17*)

TEA! Virat Kohli and Bhuvneshwar Kumar attempt to light things up. The 121st over went for three runs, the next gave India two more. Kumar then scored his first boundary of the innings off the final delivery of the next over, bowled by Steve Smith. Kohli then flicked Lyon for his fourth boundary in the next. Off the 125th came 11 runs – including two boundaries. The first one by Kohli while the next by Kumar. Off the final delivery before tea break, Kohli took a single that borught upo his sixth Test fifty. India are leading by 71 runs with three wickets remaining.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 120 II Score: 452/7 (Kohli 34*, Kumar 6*)

At this moment on Saturday, the world was staring in awe of Dhawan. Right now, the match is moving at snail’s pace. One might draw conclusion from the current state of affairs that the Indians aren’t going for the kill. They might be content with a draw. Four runs came from the 116th over, the next was a maiden, the next two fetched them two runs each while the 120th was a maiden.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 115 II Score: 444/7 (Kohli 31*, Kumar 1*)

The 108th over from Starc was a maiden while the next from Siddle also went for nothing. Off the 110th came just a single while off the next Virat scored a boundary flicking Siddle’s fifth delivery for four. The 112th fetched them just one while the next one was a maiden (phew!). Lyon was borught back in the 114th over and Kohli scored a single off it. An edge in the next over off the final delivery gave Kohli another boundary. Six runs came in that over. The lead is now 26 runs.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 106.5 II Score: 431/6 (Kohli 19*, Kumar 0*)

OUT! The wickets are now suddenly coming easy for Australia in the same manner as Dhawan was scoring boundaries on Saturday. The new ball is being made to do the talk by the Australian pacers! Peter Siddle gets his second wicket after R Ashwin edged his fifth delivery of to keeper Haddin. He scored 4 (6b, 4X1). Bhuvneshwar Kumar joins Virat Kohli.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 104.5 II Score: 427/6 (Kohli 19*, Ashwin 0*)

OUT! Another wicket goes down! Four wickets have fallen in the post lunch session! Ravindra Jadeja had driven Peter Siddle beautifully to score his first boundary and a ball later he was dismissed. Siddle bowled it at an angle and Jadeja followed it, ended up edging it to keeper Brad Haddin. He has again failed to make an impact with the bat. Jadeja scored 8 (9b, 4X1). Ravichandran Ashwin comes in to bat at No. 8.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 101.4 II Score: 416/5 (Kohli 17*, Jadeja 0*)

Well! Starc has struck again in space of three deliveries. He has now removed skipper Dhoni whom he trapped in front of the wickets! Absolutely no doubt about that decision. Dhoni had begun in style scoring a boundary off his first delivery. However, he could only last three balls. He scored 4 (3b, 4X1). In comes Ravindra Jadeja.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 101.1 II Score: 412/4 (Kohli 17*)

OUT! New ball taken and thrown to Mitchell Starc and he immediately strikes with the wicket of centurion Murali Vijay! Starc swings the cherry and Vijay is struck on the pad. He appeals and the umpire raises his finger. He looks disappointed with the decision. He scored 153 (317b, 4X19, 6X3). End of another brilliant knock from Vijay. In walks Indian skipper MS Dhoni.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 100 II Score: 400/3 (Vijay 148*, Kohli 10*)

India are going at the rate of exactly four an over. Four runs came off the 95th over in which Kohli cut one past point for his first boundary. The 96th was a maiden; the next went for just three while 99th fetched them just two. Off the 100th, India added six more runs to their total as their scored touched the 400-run mark. Vijay swept Doherty’s final delivery for his 18th boundary.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 94.1 II Score: 384/3 (Vijay 142*)

Sachin Tendulkar’s wait for the elusive century continued as he was caught by Ed Cowan off Steve Smith as he attempted to defend the first delivery of the over. He scored 37 (81b, 4X5).The Lunch was immediately taken after the fall of the third Indian wicket. The Australians seem to have pulled things back in the morning session of this Test as they have taken three crucial wickets – Dhawan, Pujara and Tendulkar. 36.1 overs were bowled in the first session of the fourth day and 101 runs were scored by the batting side. India are still trailing by 24 runs with seven wickets in hand.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 90 II Score: 370/2 ( Vijay 136*, Tendulkar 31*)

The 86th over, bowled by Xavier Doherty was a maiden. Moises Henriques replaced Mitchell Starc from the other end and his first went for two runs. The 88th, bowled by Doherty, was again a maiden. 89th was a tight over off which India could only add a single to their total. Vijay then broke the monotony by hitting a boundary off Doherty in the next.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 85 II Score: 363/2 ( Vijay 130*, Tendulkar 30*)

Starc third delivery of the 81st over is short and wide. Tendulkar plays it past point region for a glorious boundary. Seven runs from the over. Off the 82nd came just a single while the 83rd was a maiden. 84th fetched them four while Vijay collected another boundary of the final delivery of the 85th over that took him to 130.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 80 II Score: 349/2 ( Vijay 121*, Tendulkar 25*)

Five runs came from the 76th over – three singles and a double. The next went for three runs. Off the third delivery of the 78th, the Australians went for a huge appeal as Vijay bent on one knee to sweep. However, the umpire ruled it as not out as the replays clearly showed that he had hit it. Off the final delivery, Tendulkar charged down and drove it through covers for his third boundary. 10 runs came from it. The next two overs were maidens.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 75 II Score: 331/2 ( Vijay 114*, Tendulkar 14*)

The 71st over bowled by Siddle was a maiden. From the next, India took four runs. Off the final delivery of the following over, Vijay slammed a boundary through covers. 74th got India just two while Tendulkar straight drove Starch for a lovely boundary. Six runs came from it. India trailing by 75 runs.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 70 II Score: 315/2 ( Vijay 105*, Tendulkar 7*)

Sachin Tendulkar slog sweeps Nathan Lyon (70th over) over midwicket region for his first boundary of the innings. Off the 65th over, Vijay scored the first four of the day (his 11th) after edging one from Siddle past slip. Off the first delivery of the 68th over, Vijay scored his 12th boundary after sweeping it to deep backward square leg region. The 69th over fetched India three runs. Compared to what happened yesterday, the proceedings look pretty dull this morning.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 66 II Score: 304/2 ( Vijay 100*, Tendulkar 1*)

Murali Vijay reaches his third Test hundred in style lofting Nathan Lyon over long-midwicket for four. It has been an innings that was largely overshadowed by Dhawan’s 187 but nevertheless, it has been equally important as the opener has shown restraint and avoided playing any rash strokes. He has looked to stay at the crease. Five runs came in that over.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 62.6 II Score: 292/2 ( Vijay 89*, Tendulkar 0*)

Another wicket goes down! Oh that was unlucky! Cheteshwar Pujara is surprised as umpire Aleem Dar raises his finger after Siddle hits him on the pads and asks the question! Replays show that Pujara got an inside edge before the ball hit the pad. That looked out to the naked eye! Australia have now two wickets this morning. A strong comeback from the Kangaroos. Pujara scored 1 (13b). In walks Sachin Tendulkar. A wicket-maiden over from Peter.
====================================================================================

INDIA Overs: 59.5 II Score: 289/1 ( Vijay 87*, Pujara 0*)

The Australians, says the commentator, have done some thinking and bowling with a plan. Immediately when Shikhar Dhawan came on to the strike, Peter Siddle came around the wicket. When Dhawan faced Lyon in the next over, a silly point was stationed. Lyon bowled a length ball and Dhawan played a defensive stroke that went low to silly point and Ed Cowan took a good catch. A very soft dismissal in the end! The crowd must be disappointed as they would have expected Dhawan to continue where he left yesterday. He scored 187 (174b, 4X33, 6X2). What a move by Clarke! Australia have broken the first wicket stand. In walks Cheteshwar Pujara
====================================================================================

AUSTRALIA MAULED ON DAY 3

Shikhar Dhawan plundered the Australian attack in Mohali on Saturday notching up a record unbeaten 183 on the third day of the third Test. He has now the fastest Test century on debut and also the highest ever score by an Indian in his maiden Test. The interesting feature of Dhawan’s onslaught was the fact that he seldom looked to slog. Apart from one or two strokes he rarely looked out of control and completely dominated the pacers and spinners with ease. Not to forget should be the fact that Murali Vijay has been a strong support that has made the southpaw comfortable to play his shots. India are still trailing the Australian total by 125 runs with 10 wickets in hand.

INDIA Overs: 58 II Score: 283/0 ( Vijay 83*, Dhawan 185*)

Vijay whips one with great timing off Henriques for a boundary. Pacers on operation from both ends for the Aussies. The ball is reversing a little but the Indian batsmen not bothered much as they continue to play the way they have throughout. Lyon to bowl the last over of the day and Dhawan for a change is defending the off spinner and playing him from the crease.
