Lyon admits not knowing tricks to succeed in IndiaSydney: Off spinner Nathan Lyon has admitted he isn’t aware of the tricks to succeed in the sub-continental conditions after Cricket Australia (CA) decided to send him along with few other players early to India to give them more time to prepare for the upcoming series. Lyon has sought the advise of captain Michael Clarke and legendary Ricky Ponting as he tries to unlock the secrets to bowling on the subcontinent.

Australia’s second spinner Xavier Doherty will be required for the rest of the one-day and Twenty20 games against the West Indies, which finish on February 13, nine days before the first Test, the paper added. Lyon`s experience in India is limited to seven overs from four Twenty20 matches during the 2011 Champions League where he claimed one wicket at the cost of 58 runs. Even legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne had minimal success on Indian conditions during his playing days and even his predecessor Nathan Hauritz hasn’t worn the baggy green since failing against India.

Asked what changes, if any, he would need to make to his game for next month`s four-Test series, Lyon said he honestly doesn`t know, as it`s something he have to explore on his own. Lyon added his bowling is totally different to anyone else`s which is a big positive, adding it will be a big key for him going over early and spending a couple of weeks over there before the first Test. Lyon further said he would have to do some big training sessions and use the trial games before the first Test to find out what he thinks is right for the conditions for myself to bowl in.
