# Murali Vijay registered his third duck in Tests - his first vs Australia.

# Lokesh Rahul's unbeaten 31 is his highest Test score.

# Rohit Sharma registered his second highest score vs Australia, next only to the 43 at Adelaide last month.

# Mohammed Shami (5/112) has recorded his best bowling figures in a Test innings vs Australia. It is his second five-wicket haul in Tests - his best being 5 for 47 vs West Indies at Kolkata in November 2013. He became the first bowler to take five wickets in an innings for India in the current series.

# Shami joined Kapil Dev, Karsan Ghavri, Anil Kumble and Shivlal Yadav. They have claimed five wickets in an innings for India in a Test match at SCG.

# Anil Kumble had captured 8 for 141 in 2003-04 - the best bowling feat by an Indian bowler in a Test innings at Sydney.

# Steven Smith's aggregate of 698 (ave.139.60) is the third highest by a batsman in a four-Test series for Australia. Ricky Ponting had scored 706 (ave.100.85) against India in 2003-04 and Doug Walters' 699 (ave.116.50) against West Indies in 1968-69.

# Smith (117) posted his fourth hundred vs India - his eighth in Tests. In consecutive Tests, he has recorded hundreds at Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
