India team set to rope in psychologist Sandy Gordon: Reports

Melbourne: In their bid to help the players combat with trying match situations, the Indian team management is all set to rope in noted sports psychologist Sandy Gordon with the third cricket Test against Australia starting tomorrow at the MCG.

According to a report by a leading news channel, Gordon is set to join the team during the third Test and his prior experience of working with the Indian cricket team has been one of the key factors towards BCCI thinking of hiring the Perth-based sports psychologist.

Gordon's name became synonymous with Indian cricket when his presence coincided with change in Sourav Ganguly's team's dwindling fortunes during the 2003 ICC World Cup in South Africa.

After two indifferent matches against the Netherlands and Australia, the Indian team was facing criticism from all corners before BCCI roped in Gordon to help them deal with the mental aspect.

The class of 2003 had attributed Gordon's presence as a reason for their success with the team reaching the final in that edition of the marquee event.
