New Delhi: The historic Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday was painted pink to commemorate the late Jane McGrath, wife of legendary Australian fast bowler Glenn. Jane died of breast cancer in 2008 and for the seventh successive year, Day 3 of the Sydney Test was marked as Jane McGrath Day.
The New Year's Test in Sydney is popularly known as the Pink Test. This time, the touring Indian team is playing the home side in their fourth and final Test. The third day witnessed the stadium and fans decked out in pink. Earlier, the Ladies Stand was renamed Jane McGrath stand on Wednesday.
Before the start of day's play, players from both camps meet Glenn, who founded the McGrath Foundation a decade ago. The foundation has already raised more than 6.5million Australian dollars. The Australian government also promised to contribute donation to the cause.
