With Mitchell Johnson injured India can end series on a high at spin-friendly SCG

New Delhi: Newly appointed Indian Test skipper, Virat Kohli, has the best chance to end the four-match Test series against Australia on a high, when the final match of the series starts from January 6 in Sydney.

Though, the hosts have already sealed the Border-Gavaskar series 2-0, Kohli-led side can take full advantage of the traditional spin-friendly track at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Some o f the India batsmen are looking in good nick in the series and have scored plenty of runs to prove their prowess against a strong Australian bowling line-up, thus far.

Apart from Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Murali Vijay have been among runs and are in top form, whereas, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shikhar Dhawan looked good in patches.

With Australia's bowling spearhead Mitchell Johnson already ruled out of the last Test due to hamstring injury, India have a good chance to dominate the Australian team in the last match.

If the Sydney pitch plays as per its reputation, then, spinners from both the sides can get good purchase from the wicket and their role would become crucial. If India have the services of R Ashwin, then the home side too have Nathan Lyon, who played a match-winning role with the ball in the first Test.

On the Sydney wicket, India could also play two spinners. In that case, Karn Sharma can brought into the team to pair up with Ashwin. But spinners will have to bowl their heart out to help India beat Australia and end the series on a positive note.

Even a draw would be a significant achievement for Kohli & Co after the regular skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni shockingly announced his Test retirement with immediate effect after the third Test in Melbourne.
