Cook says England would go for kill in Nagpur TestLondon: England captain Alastair Cook has warned his players of any kind of slip up ahead of the final Test match against India in Nagpur, saying the team wants to complete a historic treble and complete the series win. Cook has urged his team to put India to the sword one last time to turn their unassailable 2-1 lead into an historic treble. Sunday’s emphatic seven-wicket win came with a shudder of excitement when England lost three quick wickets in their pursuit of a mere 41 runs to win. But, Ian Bell settled the nerves along with Nick Compton and took their side over the line, and Cook wants his players to settle with nothing less than a 3-1 win in the series.

“Without a doubt we need to go for the win in Nagpur. We have to go in with the same approach we’ve had for these last two games,” the Daily Mirror quoted Cook, as saying. “We can’t keep patting ourselves on the back, now is not the time to do it. I wish we were going home with things all wrapped up, but the job is not done yet. I know it’s very boring, but you have to keep on trucking in one way and keep doing the same kind of stuff we’re doing now,” he added. “The first thing was to have a realisation we had a problem against playing spin. All of us as a batting unit had to have a look at our technique against spin and work out a method,” he said. Cook added: “It was not going to happen overnight but we are now starting to get a few results from that. “We’ve taken what we’ve been doing in the nets out into the middle and started to perform close to our potential. We’ve just got to keep going and people need to put their hands up at the right time,” he concluded.
