England ended the day on 352/9. The 10th wicket partnership continued to frustrate India as Root and Anderson put on an unbeaten 54 runs. The bowlers did a fine job on a lifeless pitch and bowled their hearts out. The hosts are 105 runs behind of India. The fightback from the England tail has continued to keep this Test in the balance after Day 3.

Joe Root continued to protect Anderson as he kept taking singles off the fourth ball of every over. Anderson has looked comfortable against Jadeja and Bhuvi. The two have already added 34 runs for the last wicket. MS Dhoni has to make some changes to this field placement to prevent Root from taking a single on the fourth ball of every over. Root is unbeaten on 66.

Bhuvi's in-swinger was clearly too good for Plunkett who was beaten all ends up as he lost his bails after the ball clipped his pad. That was Kumar's fourth wicket. England lost their ninth wicket and brought James Anderson to the crease.
Joe Root got got to his fifty with a back-foot punch through point. What a fine player he is turning out to be.

Stuart Broad and Joe Root played some great counter-attacking cricket. Broad punished almost every delivery that was pitched up. He was helped by Root who sustained the pressure on the Indian bowlers by rotating the strike. The duo helped England avoid follow-on as well. Broad finally was trapped lbw by Bhuvi for a well made 47. Plunkett is the new man in for England.

Double blow for England. Prior hits a shot to the boundary before being given out by Kumar Dharmasena off a knick to Dhoni. Prior is stunned as the ball doesn't seem to have hit the bat. Nottingham: Today England will resume from 43 for one. The home team is trailing by 414 runs with three full days play left in the match. For England the key would be play the entire day and score as many runs they can. But the first session of play would be quite crucial for both the teams. Where the visiting team try to pick a couple of wickets to put England under pressure, the home team would look for big partnerships.
The second day of the first Test clearly belonged to India courtesy a record last-wicket partnership between Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami who put on 111-runs for the last wicket. England managed to get in the game in the post-lunch session as they dismissed Dhoni, Jadeja and Binny in quick time. But the dogged determination of India`s tail completely changed the complexion of this Test. To make matters worse, England lost Alastair Cook as he was bowled round his legs in the fourth over by Shami. The pitch still looks good for batting but England need to forget that last session and start afresh today.
