Cheteshwar Pujara to join Derbyshire

London: India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara is set to join Derbyshire for the final three County Championship fixtures of the season, it was announced Saturday.

The 26-year-old made 81 against the Midlands county in a tour match but struggled in the ensuing 3-1 defeat by England in a five-Test series, where he made 222 runs at an average of 22.20 with a top score of 55.

However, Pujara has a career Test average of just under 50 and he said: "I`m keen to play as much cricket as possible in England this year and I`m looking forward to joining up with Derbyshire at the beginning of September."

Derbyshire are currently seventh in the Second Division of the Championship, two places off the bottom.
