The celebrations didn't last for long as two balls later, Rahane played one back to Anderson who took a one-handed catch. Rahane and Shami added 40 runs for the ninth wicket, Shami's contribution being just four runs. Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami were the two unbeaten players at the crease and they have added 15 runs for the tenth-wicket partnership! AM Rahane c & b Anderson 103 (154b) ============================================================== Over 85 || Score 265/8 Broad ended Bhuvi's resilience when one of his deliveries kept low and hit the stumps. Bhuvneshwar had hit two boundaries in the same over before being bowled. Rahane scored a boundary and a six off Anderson's next over and quickly moved on to 89. He was in a similar situation in South Africa where he counter-attacked the likes of Steyn, Philander and Morkel and fell just six runs short of what would have been a magnificent ton. That would be in his mind and he would definitely want to reach the three-figure mark. Rahane slammed two more boundaries in the 85th over bowled by Anderson and has reached 98. B Kumar b Broad 36 (84b) ============================================================== Over 80 || Score 223/7 27 runs scored in the last five overs and these two have now grown in confidence and are punishing anything which is short and wide. Cook would be wondering about what should he do to breach through the tail of the Indian team. At one point India looked like being bowled out well under 200 runs, but this has been a stupendous fightback from the Indian team. Credit must go to Bhuvneshwar who has played a superb supporting role, with Rahane who has taken the responsibility to accelerate the pace of Indian innings. The partnership is now worth 78 runs. ============================================================== Over 75 || Score 196/7 Rahane hit a superb shot off Plunkett clearing extra-cover to reach his half-century. Slowly and steadily, these two are scoring more runs as compared to what they were doing after the seventh wicket fell. Rahane is batting on 61 now and Bhuvneshwar is batting on 18. This is a significant partnership for India considering they have not only added unbeaten 51 runs so far, but have also batted for more than 18 overs. This partnership will only add to the never ending pressure on Alastair Cook. ============================================================== Over 70 || Score 175/7 Once again, after doing all the hard work, the English bowlers are struggling to dismiss either of these two batsman. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is batting on 12 and he proved in the first Test that he has the temperament to do well with the bat in the longest format of the game. Rahane, on the other hand, is batting on 46 and is just four runs short of what wouldn't be less than a century for India considering the situation they were in. ============================================================== Over 65 || Score 161/7 Just ten runs were scored in the last five overs but since Bhuvneshwar too bats with a sound technique, Rahane cant trust him and these two surely have the potential to stitch a crucial partnership for India. The English bowlers were frustrated to the core by the tail-enders in the first match and thus Alastair Cook would be desperate to pick three quick wickets. ============================================================== Over 60 || Score 151/7 There was no respite for the Indian batsmen as Anderson sent Binny back to the pavilion. It was a back of a length delivery which was angling towards middle and leg and Binny was trapped in front of the wicket as the ball hit him on the thigh pad. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the new man in. He batted beautifully in the first Test and his team needs a similar sort of innings from him at Lord's as well. STR Binny lbw b Anderson 9 (19b) ============================================================== Over 55 || Score 140/6 Tea: Jadeja's stay didn't last for long as he was trapped in front of the wickets by Moeen Ali. Jadeja was looking to defend the ball when it hit his pads before making any contact with the bat. Even though Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami, one can't expect record knocks from them every now and then. Thus, the Rahane-Binny pair needs to bat for as long as they can. RA Jadeja lbw b Ali 3 (11b) ============================================================== Over 50 || Score 127/5 Stuart Broad picked his 250th Test wicket in form of India skipper MS Dhoni who edged a length delivery which was taken behind the wickets by Prior. Ravindra Jadeja was welcomed to the crease with plenty of boos from the ground. Rahane is batting on 20 off 47 balls and he must tell Jadeja to spend some time at the crease, despite the atmosphere which is against him. MS Dhoni c Prior b Broad 1 (17b) ============================================================== Over 45 || Score 121/4 India lost another set batsmen when Ben Stokes bowled a superb delivery to Cheteshwar Pujara who wasn't expecting it to swing so much, but it did and hit the stumps. That's another big blow for India. Pujara batted 117 balls for his 28 and was looking comfortable at the crease. MS Dhoni is the new man in. India are in some sort of a trouble here. CA Pujara b Stokes 28 (117b) ============================================================== Over 40 || Score 109/3 Not many runs scored once again in the last five over, but importantly, India haven't lost any more wickets. We did see some boundaries from these two and they would be looking to increase the run-rate without taking too many risks. ============================================================== Over 35 || Score 91/3 James Anderson picked his second wicket of the match when he bowled a peach of a delivery to Kohli, who edged it and Matt Prior took a clean catch on that occasion. Kohli was looking all set for a big knock, and one can't blame him for that dismissal. Ajinkya Rahane is the new man in. There has been a lot of talk about the technique of these two batsmen and it's an excellent opportunity for them to stitch a big partnership and get their team into a comfortable position. V Kohli c Prior b Anderson 25 (34b) ============================================================== Over 30 || Score 77/2 It has been some tight bowling from the English bowlers as these two have managed to score just four runs in the last five overs. Cook continued with his dependable pair of Anderson and Broad and they have put the batsmen under some sort of pressure. ============================================================== Over 25 || Score 73/2 England picked another wicket in the first session when Vijay edged a back of a length delivery towards third slip where Ballance held on to a good catch. Virat Kohli was the new man in and he scored three boundaries before lunch. Moeen Ali created another opportunity for his team when Kohli edged his last delivery before lunch and Prior grassed it. Prior dropped two chances in that session. Pujara is batting on 11 off 66 ball, but more importantly, he is still at the crease and has seen through the most difficult session of the first day. M Vijay c Ballance b Plunkett 24 (67b) ============================================================== Over 20 || Score 43/1 English bowlers are now bowling slightly fuller and their length has improve. The resilience from Pujara and Vijay has however continued and they can put India into command if they bat for a few more overs. ============================================================== Piers Morgan is unhappy with Cook's decision to bowl first after winning the toss.

Over 15 || Score 34/1 Even though there is a lot of assistance for the English seamers in this Lord's wicket, they aren't probably playing too full to the Indian batsmen, who are happy leaving most of the deliveries. Vijay and Pujara are batting with a sound technique and Cook should probably ask his pacers to bowl full. Liam Plunkett has been introduced into the attack and he is once again bowling short deliveries – a crime on such a green wicket. ============================================================== Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan believes the Lord's wicket will suit the Indian pacers as well.

Over 10 || Score 16/1 Pujara has played 23 balls so far and is yet to get off the mark. But Anderson and Broad are bowling superbly at the moment and England are dominating proceedings at the moment. It won't be easy for Vijay and Pujara but they should bat through this first session, which is the key. ============================================================== Over 5 || Score 11/1 James Anderson got an early breakthrough for England when he swung one away from Dhawan, he got an edge and Ballance took a good low catch. Cheteshwar Pujara is the new man in. There was another edge off Vijay's bat, Prior dived to his left but couldn't hold on to the low chance. There is a lot of seam and bounce on the wicket and Indian batsmen are clearly looking vulnerable. India are also playing with an unchanged XI from Nottingham. Indian skipper, MS Dhoni said they would have bowled first because the base of the wicket looks soft. Which means, both James Anderson and Ravindra Jadeja will have another chance to settle their issue, on the field. ======================================================================================== After a tame draw at Nottingham, the second Test match between the touring Indian team and England will take the centre stage of world cricket starting today. What transpires in the next four days will set the tone of the series, which involves another three Test matches. The ensuing claims and counter-claims from both the camps over the James Anderson-Ravindra Jadeja row have made the run-up to the Test and enduring one. The presence of both the players in the match will even more it one entertaining one from both the competitive and entertainment perspectives. However, the more important aspect of the this Test match is the location, the place. Known as the Mecca of Cricket, the Lord`s is undoubtedly the holiest of cricket grounds. It first hosted it`s first Test match some 130 years ago and still got its aura intake. Playing in the hallowed grounds of Lord`s is every cricketers` dream. Then, the talks of the colour of the pitch. And it`s green! If the Nottingham match failed to produce a result, experts are of the opinion that there will be a winning team this time. So, the primordial fear for the captains is team combination. Which ever side gets the combination right, will have the last laugh amidst all the tensions. For the Indian cricket team, Lord`s is not better than a grave-yard. In 16 Test matches, a solitary win is all that the tourists can flaunt. Eleven defeats and four draws have failed to enliven Kapil Dev and his team from that famous 1986 win. The last time India played at Lord`s, England humbled the tourists by a massive 196 runs.
