But one can say that England team has an upper hand in the match. ============================================================== Over 10 || Score 21/1 The new man in, Pujara, is yet to open his account. India, now, would not like to lose any further wicket on Day 2. Cheteshwar Pujara is the new man to the cease. S Dhawan c Cook b Anderson 6 (17b) ============================================================== Over 5 || Score 15/0 In the first five overs, both the Indian openers – Vijay and Dhawan have played sensible cricket. They are looking confident in the middle. Though, the new ball is not doing much but the two prime English bowlers are testing them hard. ==============================================================Over 2 || Score 7/0 Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay are in the middle to open the Indian innings, whereas, James Anderson and Stuart Broad are sharing the new ball. In the first over of the innings, bowled by Anderson, Vijay collected a boundary towards gully region by opening the face of the bat. And with the wicket of Buttler, Cook has declared their first innings. After winning the toss and elected to bat first, Cook's side has scored 569 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the first innings of the third Test. Most successful bowler for India was Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who scalped three wickets. Buttler scored swiftly in the end. Meanwhile, Butter has also completed his half-century. Now Cook must be thinking of declaring the England innings. IR Bell c Pankaj Singh b Kumar 167 (256b) ============================================================== Over 156 || Score 508/5 In the 155th over Bell took a single off the first ball to touch the 150-run mark. After Ballance, he is second English batsman to reach the 150 mark today. Pankaj Singh who is playing in his debut match is still searching for his maiden Test wicket. Jos Buttler has also reached near the fifty run mark. Meanwhile, the home side has crossed the 500-run mark. And both the batsmen are dealing in boundaries at the moment. ============================================================== Over 142 || Score 442/5 New batsman to the crease, Jos Buttler, has also started opening up a bit. In the 141st over bowled by Jadeja, he collected two back-to-back boundaries and has quickly reached to 11 off 14 balls. Bhuvi and Jadeja are bowling for India at the moment. Now England would be looking to add 50 to 60 quick runs, before they declare their first innings. ============================================================== Over 136 || Score 420/5 Ian Bell has completed his hundred in style by hitting a six off Jadeja. It's his 21 Test century. Immediately after completing his hundred he celebrated his ton with a four, six and another four. What a way to celebrate! Meanwhile, the home side has also crossed the mark of 400 runs. In the 135th over of the innings Jadeja conceded 21 runs. Moeen Ali Out! Spinner Ravinder Jadeja and sppedster Pankaj Singh are bowling in tandem for India at the moment. ============================================================== Over 128 || Score 380/4 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has been bowling well in this series, finally takes his first wicket of the match in the form of Joe Root. The right-hander nicks the ball straight to the wicketkeeper MS Dhoni. After the fall of England's fourth wicket, Moeen Ali comes in to join Ian Bell in the middle. JE Root c Dhoni b Kumar 3 (25b) ============================================================== Over 126 || Score 372/3 Dhoni is juggling his bowlers quite swiftly now. It shows his frustration as well his eagerness to take few quick wickets. Joe Root the new man is taking his time to settle down. On the other hand, Bell has reached to eighty in mere 154 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and a six. India is desperately missing their most experienced bowler and hero of the last Test Ishant Sharma, who has missed the match due to foot injury. ============================================================== Lunch: First session on day 2 also belonged to the home side. The Englishmen scored runs at a fair clip as they added 111 runs in 29 overs of play in the pre-lunch season. Beginning on overnight score of 247 for two, India needed quick wickets with the second new ball which was only 10 overs old at the start of play today, But it didn't happen. Over 119 || Score 358/3 Shortly after scoring 150-runs, Gary Ballance has been sent back to the pavilion. Ballance went to the back-foot to place the ball towards on-side but got the outside edge of his bat and Dhoni took a sharp catch behind the wickets. But the replay suggested that, it wasn't an edge. So Ballance was unlucky to be given out by the field umpire. Joe root is the new man in for England after the fall of their third wicket. GS Ballance c Dhoni b Sharma 156 (288b) ============================================================== Over 113 || Score 329/2 Now Ballance, who has been in excellent nick is mere nine runs short of 150-run mark. The 25-year-old has been emerging as a bright spot for the English side, who has been going through transition phase. Indian bowers are still hunting for the first breakthrough of the day. ============================================================== Over 107 || Score 312/2 In the 105th over, Bell launched Jadeja for the first six of the match. Bell came down the track and hit it over bowler's head. And in the next over with the help of a single Bell completed his fifty. He played 98 balls to reach the mark and hit seven fours and a six. England must be delighted to see that both the mainstay of England batting line up Cook and Bell are finally among runs. ============================================================== Drinks Break Over 104 || Score 301/2 Indian seamers are looking hapless at the moment as Bell and Ballance are looking unstoppable. They are collecting boundaries at will. Indian seamers are trying every possible trick but are looking mediocre in front of the duo. Meanwhile, in the 103rd over, the home side has crossed the mark of 300 runs. Now MS Dhoni have tossed up the ball to spinner Ravindra Jadeja. ============================================================== Over 100 || Score 282/2 Bell and Ballance both are scoring runs at a rapid pace. In the 97th over off Bhuvi, Ballance collected three consecutive boundaries. And Dhoni immediately brought Mohammed Shami into the attack, as the first change bowler. Indian bowlers are using short balls as well but English batsmen have played them well so far. ============================================================== Over 95 || Score 262/2 Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Pankaj Singh have started the bowling proceedings for India on Day 2. Indian bowlers need to take a couple of wickets early on to stop the hosts from scoring a big total in their first innings. First two overs of the day were maiden. Off the third came the first run from the bat of Ballance off Bhuvi. In the 94th over, Bell scored two back to back boundaries off Pankaj to collect eight runs from the over. ============================================================== A tweet by Sky Sports which shows the arrival of England players at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton today morning. ============================================================== By the way this was the scenario of the Test match at end of Day one. ============================================================== Southampton: The first day of the third Test match here at the Rose Bowl, completely belonged to England. The hosts made merry of Indian bowling and some careless fielding that allowed them to dictate terms. Alastair Cook rode his luck after being dropped by Ravindra Jadeja on 15 at third slip and went on to score a well made 95. On the other hand Gary Ballance scored a superb century and will look to add more today. With him at the crease lies Ian Bell and the out of form batsman will look to follow on the footsteps of his skipper and score big here. It was a good toss to win for England and they made full use of the batting conditions. It will be interesting to see how the pitch shapes up today as it has very little for the bowlers on the first day. Indian bowlers need to have patience and get early wickets in the first session. England are in a commanding position and another let off will see them score a huge total on Monday. The hosts will be eyeing anything but an excess of 450 runs on a flat pitch. India need wickets and Dhoni cannot rely on part timers to do that. He needs to overcome his negativity.
