Karma Bites: Virender Sehwag trolls James Anderson on king pair in India-England 2nd Test

New Delhi: After India's emphatic 246-run victory over England in the second Test of the five-match series at Visakhapatnam on Sunday, former India opener Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to remind James Anderson that Karma bites.

“Jimmy Anderson made me pay tribute to Aryabhatta by getting me out for a King pair in 2011. Today,he too got a King pair,” the 38-year-old wrote. The batting great, providing his philosophical piece, invoked Aryabhatta to work out how karma works.

Aryabhatta is known as the father of algebra and was the major mathematician-astronomer from the classical age of Indian mathematics and Indian astronomy.

In the 2011 Birmingham Test, Sehwag was dismissed without scoring in both the innings off first balls, by Stuart Broad and Anderson respectively.

Both the pacers have since become England's bowling mainstay the traditional format of the game, and in the Vizag Test, the duo led their attack, but to limited success.

Interestingly, in the Vizag Test, Anderson himself got out for two ducks, off first balls, to Ravichandran Ashwin and Jayant Yadav, both times adjudging LBW.

Board was somehow lucky not to have registered a naught in either innings. He scored 13 and five respectively.

It probably prompted Sehwag to pick Anderson, also the more successful of the two, to remind his own misfortune, albeit in a more philosophical way.

India needed eight wickets on Day 5 to beat England, and considering the brilliant batting display from the visitors, a hard fought final day was expected.

But the win came rather too soon, just after the lunch, with Indian spinners once again weaving their magic.

Skipper Virat Kohli was adjudged Man of the Match for his 248 runs, which included a brilliant 167 in the first essay.

The first Test at Rajkot ended in a high-scoring draw with as six batsmen scoring hundreds.

The third match will be played at Mohali, starting November 26.
