India vs South Africa: Faf du Plessis' fitness would be key for visitors

New Delhi: The South African team has landed in India for a 72-day long tour, where they are scheduled to play three T-20s, five ODIs and four Tests.

As the series is set to kick-start from October 2, major concern for the visitors would be the fitness of their T-20 skipper Faf du Plessis. One of the main stays of South African batting line-up, du Plessis has recently recovered from a knee injury.

Being a part of the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings, Faf has a vast experience of playing in Indian conditions and the 31-year-old will be a key figure for the Proteas, especially on the tour.

However, considering the length of the tour and the niggle that kept Faf out of action since August, his fitness might haunt the Proteas throughout the series.

Considering the ICC World T-20, which is scheduled to take place next year in India, the T-20 series would be more like a preparation for the mega event for both the sides.
