New Delhi: Underprepared Sri Lanka team has already lost the five-match series against India, as the hosts have gained an unassailable lead of 3-0, after the first three matches.
Men in Blue have literally thrashed the Lankans in all the three departments and are now looking upbeat to clinch the series 5-0. A clean sweep here will only boost India's confidence before leaving for Australia.
To say the least, one of the senior most batsman in the Sri Lankan team, Kumar Sangakkara, won't be available for the rest of the series, as he has been sent back home considering his poor form with the willow.
Along with Sanga, Dhammika Prasad, Suraj Randiv and Upul Tharanga are among the other players who have been replaced by Dinesh Chandimal, Lahiru Thirimanne, Ajantha Mendis and Shaminda Eranga for the remaining two ODIs.
The fourth match of the series is scheduled to take place at Eden Gardens, whereas the last ODI will be played at Ranchi.
Dejected Islanders are playing poor cricket with the bat as well as with the ball. Only Mahela Jayawardene is in rich vein of form, but is not getting support from the other end. Sri Lankan bowlers too are looking toothless against the robust Indian batting line up.
On top of it, comeback of Robin Uthappa and Rohit Sharma will surely make things even difficult for Angelo Mathews' side.
Fourth ODI will take place on Thursday where the Virat Kohli-led team are once again the favourites to win the match.
It won't be much of a surprise if India whitewash the visitors in the ongoing series.
