The farewell lap is now complete. ==================================================================================== Sachin is now waving the Indian flag. He is surrounded by his team mates and family. It cannot get more emotional than this. The fans are crying. There is not a single spectator who doesn’t have tears in his eyes. I have met so many of you who have fasted for me and done all sorts of things for me. ‘Sachinnn Sachinn’ will reverberate in my ears till I stop breathing.....Goodbye”. ==================================================================================== He thanked all the seniors he has played with. He also thanked Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman who were present at the ground. He talked to the present squad and wished them good luck and hoped that they continue to serve the nation and bring laurels to the country. He even thanked all the coaches, his doctors and physios. He also remembered his late friend Mark Mascaranus. He also thanked his manager Vinod Naidu. Sachin also thanked his childhood friends. He mentioned his coach Ramakant Achrekar. He recalled how he used to how on his scooter to practice matches. Those were special years. It will continue that way. Anjali being a doctor, there was a beautiful career ahead of her. But she let me continue with cricket and took the responsibility of my family. Without her I wouldn’t have been able to play cricket. Thanks for bearing with me and always staying by my side through the ups and downs, This is the best partnership I have had in my life. Sachin to kids: Time has flown by. I wanted to spend so much time with them. I have missed out on many things,. Thanks for your understanding. You are very special to me. The ball would have hit high and was had hit the inside edge of the bat too. Shami has struck. Sammy was caught in the front. The ball struck on the pad and was headed towards the stumps. Darren Sammy becomes his 10th victim and India is inching closer towards victory. Sachin Tendulkar is bowling the 41st over. The crowd is cheering out loud. The atmosphere is crazy. The partnership of 68 runs is broken. West Indies lose their 7th wicket. Skipper Darren Sammy is the new batsmen in. India need 3 more wickets to win. If they win, India will get 6 consecutive Test wins. S Chanderpaul lbw b Ashwin 41 (62b, 4x4) ==================================================================================== Over 30 || Score 117/6 Chanderpaul and Ramdin are playing steadily and they need to save the wickets if at all the West Indies is looking to play the game till lunch. The 24th and 25th were maiden overs by Ojha and Ashwin. Ten runs were scored in the 27th over, as Ramdin cut Ashwin for four, a well played shot. Ramdin hit Ashwin for a six in the 29th over. He hit the ball down to deep mid wicket. 10 runs off the over. Shami was introduced in the 30th over, and conceded 5 runs. ==================================================================================== Over 24 || Score 90/6 Wickets are falling in quick succession for West Indies. Ojha got his third wicket of the day in the 24th over. Deonarine hit the ball straight to the bowler who took an easy catch. Meanwhile, Anjali Tendulkar on Sachin’s retirement says that he belongs to Mumbai, the country and then to the family. The decision took a long time, we are overwhelmed by the love he is getting. But, off Ojha’s delivery, he top edged the ball straight to the wicket-keeper. Dhoni took an excellent catch. Five wickets for West Indies; raising doubts over the match lasting even till lunch. Ojha began with the 14th giving a single off it. Ashwin’s 15th over added 17 runs to the West Indies total. Is Chris Gayle finally coming off the T20 form? Ashwin conceded four boundaries in the over, all from full toss deliveries. Gayle took advantage of the deliveries and hit three boundaries while Samuels added a boundary. Ojha continued in the 14th over. Off the fifth delivery, Samuels hit the ball through the covers for four runs. Five runs off the over. Ashwin added 6 runs in the next over with Gayle hitting the second delivery straight past mid wicket for four runs. Right when the batsmen were looking set, Samuels got out hitting a very poor shot. Ojha got a wicket. Samuels was way ahead of the crease as he looked to hit the ball towards long-on, but was stumped by Dhoni. Shivnarine Chanderpaul is the new batsman at the crease. West Indies trail by 236 runs with 6 wickets remaining. Arjun Tendulkar is again the ball boy today. The 'Sachinn..Sachinn...' chants are doing rounds at the Wankhede stadium. West Indies batsmen Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels have arrived at the crease. R Ashwin will continue with his over and P Ojha has joined him from the other end. ==================================================================================== It is unlikely that the match is going to last for 5 days. West Indies trail by 270 and have already lost 3 wickets. A defeat by an innings and some runs is almost predictable. Gayle and Samuels will definitely look to hang in and manage some runs, but considering Gayle’s dismissals in last innings, and the Kolkata Test, it seems he is still in the T20 mode. Chanderpaul is yet to bat. It would be miraculous if the Indians are put to bat again. That means, no more Sachin now. The Indian victory will surely be dedicated to the Master Blaster and it is the on-field post-victory celebration, the fans would like to see now. ==================================================================================== West Indies, 2nd Innings, Day 2 round-up Over 12.1 || Score 43/3 STUMPS: The Windies are once again wobbling as they have lost two more wickets in quick succession. Tino Best was dismissed by Pragyan Ojha and he was a little unfortunate as the ball seemed to go down the leg side. Darren Bravo scored a boundary off Ashwin’s first ball in the 13th over but edged the next ball to Murali Vijay at second slip. India are in commanding position as they now lead by 270 runs and the Windies have just seven wickets in hand. Not to forget, it was just the second day of the Test match.
