New Delhi: As the selectors announced Indian cricket team's squad for the remaining two ODIs and the lone T20 against West Indies, one name which surprisingly went missing was of Robin Uthappa.

The wicketkeeper-batsman, who has been in phenomenal form for Kolkata Knight Riders right through this season, wasn't included in India's ODI or T20 squad. Manish Pandey, Uthappa's team-mate in the KKR squad, was preferred over the senior Indian batsman who has been in fine form right this year.

After KKR started their IPL 2014 campaign on a low note, Uthappa was promoted to open the batting with skipper Gautam Gambhir. There was no looking back for the 28-year-old from there on as he went on to slam 40 or more in ten successive innings and was the leading run-scorer of the tournament. Uthappa was rewarded with a comeback into the Indian team for the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh.

Playing for the Indian team after six years, Uthappa slammed a half-century in the first ODI against Bangladesh and scored 14, 5 respectively in the remaining two matches.

Uthappa proved his class once again in the recently concluded Champions League T20 where he accumulated 164 runs from four outings, 85* being his highest score.

Uthappa has been timing the ball beautifully of late, and the reason behind ignoring him for India's limited-overs squad remains to be a mystery.
