Brief summary:

It was an incredible match had it not been for the plenty of T20 experience of Brad Hodge, after doing all the hard work, Rajasthan Royals would have been knocked out of the tournament. It seemed quite possible at one stage when they were reeling at 57/5. Darren Sammy who hit two consecutive sixes against KKR to seal the play-off berth for his team unfortunately was at the receiving end today as Hodge clobbered him for two consecutive sixes off the first two balls of the last over. Rajasthan will now meet Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier and it should be another high-voltage clash. Despite the loss, Sunrisers Hyderabad have impressed everybody in IPL 6 and they can for sure come up with a better show next year.

====================================================================================

Rajasthan Royals innings:

Over 19.2 || Score 135/6

10 needed from 6, Sammy will bowl the last over, Hodge on strike. Sammy begins with a short ball and Hodge spanks that over deep square leg for a SIX! 4 needed from 5, Hodge moves to 48*, it should be a match-winning knock! The second ball is a length delivery and Hodge once again dispatches that over long-on for the match-winning SIX! What an incredible victory this is!

Perera bowled another dot ball, a quick one outside the off-stump and Hodge could make no contact with the bat. 13 needed from 9. The fourth ball was full and wide again, Hodge smashes that through covers, White dives and saves two runs for his side. 11 needed from 8. The fifth ball was a bouncer and Hodge hit it straight to Perera for no run. 11 needed from 7. Perera ended the over with a low full-toss and Hodge worked that towards mid-off for a single. 10 needed from 6, Perera gave just five in that over, a superb effort!

====================================================================================

Faulkner hits the third ball to short midwicket for no run. The fourth delivery was full and wide and Faulkner drove that through covers for a boundary! Faulkner worked the fifth ball to long-on for a single. And guess what the Steyn ends the over with a wide and since Parthiv attempted a throw that missed the stumps, batsmen steal another bye. A dot ball to finish the over. Ten from the over.

TOSS: Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the toss and Cameron White has decided to bat first.

Led by Rahul Dravid, Rajasthan Royals have once again received massive support of the fans who want them to win their second IPL title. Rahane and Dravid have been involved in several crucial opening partnerships and Shane Watson has been the most valuable player of this year’s IPL. The only problem with the Royals has been the form of their bowlers as apart from James Faulkner, none of the bowlers have managed to pick wickets on a regular basis. Batting has been their strength and in case if Dravid wins the toss, he might once again be interested in chasing a total.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have been the surprise package of the IPL 6. Their bowling attack received praises from all corners and led by Dale Steyn, they defended low totals on several occasions which made them a force to reckon with throughout the tournament. They defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in their last league game and Darren Sammy smashed two consecutive sixes to book their play-off berth. Ever since Shikhar Dhawan joined the squad, their batting has looked formidable and with Thisara Perera in the middle, they have managed to produce decent performances with the bat as well.
