IPL spot-fixing: Who is Baburao Yadav?

Former Ranji player Baburao Yadav, who was today arrested in connection with the IPL spot-fixing scandal, played for Vidharva and Railways in the Ranji Trophy.

New Delhi: Former Ranji player Baburao Yadav, who was today arrested in connection with the IPL spot-fixing scandal, played for Vidharva and Railways in the Ranji Trophy. With his arrest, a total of 18 people -- three IPL players- S Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan, Ajit Chandila- four former players and 11 bookies and their assistants -- have been arrested since last Thursday in connection with the scandal that rocked the cricketing world. It was learnt that Yadav had introduced fixer Sunil Bhatia, who was also arrested, to Rajasthan Royals player Ajit Chandila. Railways immediately suspend the former Ranji Trophy player who was an operator in the signal and telecom division and he joined Railways via sports quota seven years back. Baburao, a medium pace bowler and a useful lower middle-order batsman, played for Vidharva before switching to Railways. He was a moderate player. Overall, he played 6 first class game, 2 list A matches and 4 domestic Twenty20 fixtures. In the 6 first class matches played between 2001-02 and 2004-05, he scored just 121 runs at an average of 15.21 with 33 being his highest score and took 18 wickets. In the 2 List A matches, he made 38 runs and claimed just 2 wickets. He also could not set the cricket fields on fire in the four Domestic T20 matches for Railways. He amassed a total of just 27 runs and failed to take a single wicket in this format.
