Indian Premier League: Jos Buttler insists he will be focusing on England duty as auction day looms
Buttler will hope to get a vital knock for his side on Saturday regardless of what happens in the IPL auction to be held in Bengaluru.
New Delhi: England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler who is expected to be in huge demand in the Indian Premier League auction to be held on Saturday, has stated that he is concentrating solely on the job against South Africa.
England have taken a 1-0 lead against South Africa in a five-match ODI series and Jos Buttler struck a match-winning ton to continue his form in limited overs cricket. Interestingly that was Buttler's second successive ODI ton.
According to a report in Yorkshire Post, Buttler has stated that he will be focused on playing for England as whatever happens apart from that is outside his control.
“I’ll just be focused on playing for England – what happens away from that is outside my control,” said Buttler.
The hard-hitting batsman also went on to add that it is quite a strange feeling as he will go into the hat for the first time.
“It’s quite a strange feeling. You put yourself in the hat and you see what happens,” he added.
Buttler slammed a whirlwind 105 against the Proteas in the first ODI and stated that the hosts will be coming back hard.
“I’ll just be trying to build on what’s happened (in the first match) and looking forward to what should be a fantastic series. South Africa are a fantastic side and will come back hard against us.”
Buttler will hope to get a vital knock for his side on Saturday regardless of what happens in the IPL auction to be held in Bengaluru. Buttler does not want to be distracted during national duty.
Buttler has a base price of Rs 1.5 crore and it will be interesting to see which franchise goes for the England international given his ability to clear the ropes with ease.
