New Delhi: The 2016 Indian Premier League draft took place on Tuesday in Mumbai and only 10 out of the 50 players in the list were drafted by Team Rajkot and Pune respectively.

While Sanjiv Goenka's franchise Pune got Indian skipper MS Dhoni alongside Ajinkya Rahane. Steve Smith and Ravichandran Ashwin. Rajkot opted for T20 veterans in Suresh Raina, Dwayne Bravo and Brendon McCullum amongst star names.

Shane Watson who was amongst the names to miss out surprisingly, will get another chance when the auctions take place in February. Watson has been one of the most prolific batsman in the IPL.

Alongside him impressive names such as David Hussey, Mohit Sharma, Sanju Samson and Ashish Nehra too will be available.

The players capped and uncapped were selected from the squads of the suspended Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. These 40 players who missed out on Tuesday, will join cricketers released by the six other franchises and will be up for sale in the main IPL auction.

It will be interesting to see who are the players that will be released by the six other franchises as Pune and Rajkot will get to strengthen their sides respectively.

The IPL auction will be held on 6 February 2016 at Bengaluru.
