Barbados: Injury-hit Australian fast bowler Brett Lee’s career suffered another slump when he was ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a muscle strain in his right forearm.

Lee sustained the injury while playing a warm-up match against Zimbabwe here on Wednesday, which the Aussies lost by a whisker.

While no one has been named as Lee’s replacement, it was learnt that either paceman Doug Bollinger or all-rounder Ryan Harris might replace him in the squad.

"It`s a muscle strain," the team spokesman told reporters. "We have gone to the ICC Technical Committee to ask for a replacement player."

The latest injury would jeopardise the already shattered career of the 33-year-old tearway fast bowler who bade goodbye to Test cricket after suffering a series of injuries in the past.

Lee had a pretty ordinary series in the Indian Premier League, going wicket-less in the four matches he played for Kings XI Punjab.
