Pune: After the delayed start, Chris Gayle was once again on fire as he clobbered Pune bowlers all across the ground during his 31-ball 57. After he perished, Bangalore innings did not have many boundaries but Dilshan (53 from 44) and Saurabh Tiwary (36 from 30) made sure that they reached a formidable total.

Chris Gayle continued his dream run in the Indian Premier League. Put in to bat first, he looked brutal since the first ball and this was more of an innings he played in the last season of IPL. He attacked from the word go and clobbered Bhuvaneshwar Kumar for four sixes in the six over of the match. It was a slow track and Gayle used all his power to provide a solid platform to his side. Bangalore managed to score 173 runs at the end of 20 overs.

It was always going to be tough for the Pune batsmen who haven’t clicked as a unit of late. Zaheer Khan scalped two wickets in the first over to get his side to a rollicking start and since there on, Pune batsmen looked struggling at the crease. Their only hope was Robin Uthappa who scored 38 runs from 23 balls and once he perished in the ninth over, it was a matter of time that Bangalore finished the match on a winning note.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have struck into form at the right time and all of a sudden they are back to winning ways and the opponents would be wary of their resurgence. The match was heartbreak for Steven Smith who was the stand-in skipper for this match and couldn’t help his side register a win.

Sourav Ganguly rested himself for this match and he said that he will be back in the next game as a skipper and lead the side for the rest of the season.
