Jaipur: With a 38-ball 73 runs, Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag blew away Rajasthan in their ‘fortress’ helping his team register an easy 6-wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals here on Tuesday at the Sawai Mansingh stadium. Scorecard » I Points Tally» I DD vs RR: As it happened» Chasing a modest target of 141, Delhi reached their target in 15.2 overs when Naman Ojha hoisted Ashok Maneria over long off for a massive six. The game was already setup in favour of the visitors courtesy 96 runs partnership in just 59 balls by Kevin Pietersen (36) and Virender Sehwag. Even Rajasthan had a good start to their innings in the first half with Dravid and Rahane clobbering the strong Delhi bowling line up to all parts of the ground with some conventional shots but the introduction Pawan Negi turned the tide in Delhi’s favour. From being 70 for no loss in the ninth over, the hosts crumbled to 95 for 5 in the 13th. From that position, Rajasthan had no one left to provide the imputes needed to set a challenging target. The Leg spinner Pawan Negi, playing in place of Ajit Agarkar on the slow turning track of Jaipur took the crucial wickets of Rahane, Watson and Hodge in a span of 4 overs which broke the Rajasthan’s middle order. On a seemingly easy track to bat on as demonstrated by Sehwag and Pietersen, the Rajasthan batting line up, barring Dravid were guilty of playing through the line and imploding without any reason trying for the big shots rather trying to pace their innings well. Win this win Delhi have once again proven that they are the team to be beaten this season as Dravid’s Rajasthan slumped further to 6th on the table tied with Pune and Punjab with 8 points. Rajasthan have now lost 4 matches on the trot.
