Visakhapatnam: Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round performance helped Chennai Super Kings beat Deccan Chargers in the sixth match of Indian Premier League played at Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on Saturday. Jadeja who scored valuable 48 runs also picked up a five wicket haul as Chennai demolished Hyderabad by 74 runs. Apart from Jadeja, other batsmen who made useful contributions with the bat were Faf du Plesis (39) and Bravo (43). Bravo in particular played a brilliant cameo as he scored 43 runs off just 18 balls which included 23 runs that came of the last over. Apart from Steyn and Daniel Christian, none of the bowlers managed to dry the run flow. Both the bowlers picked up two wickets each. Chasing 194 was never easy for Hyderabad who never looked in control of the match. Harris and Shikhar Dhawan shared an opening stand of 32 runs in the first four overs. Bollinger provided the first breakthrough when Harris was caught behind by Dhoni. In spite of getting starts, Parthiv Patel (20) and skipper Cameron White (23) failed to play the kind of innings required to meet the formidable total. Apart from Jadeja’s five wicket haul, Jakati and Bollinger picked up two wickets each. After the match Dhoni said that his side made a rusty start in the opening match and he was pleased by the effort from the youngsters in Saturday’s match. Jadeja who was bought by Chennai Super Kings for USD2 million (approx. Rs. 9.8 Crore) proved that he was totally worth the amount.
