Jamshedpur: Seven persons engaged in betting over ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) matches were held by the police from different places in the Steel City of Jamshedpur, a senior police officer today said.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted raid and arrested one Faiyaz Ahmed from Sitaramder area here last night, Senior Superintendent of Police, Akhilesh Kumar Jha said.
Jha said a laptop, a mobile phone and Rs 66,000 in cash was seized from his possession.
In an another raid in Bagbera on the outskirts of the city, police arrested six persons and seized Rs 12,000 in cash from them, he said adding that the punters were also engaged in betting for IPL match.
