U Chand b Lee 0 (1b) ==================================================================================== ==================================================================================== Toss: KKR have won the toss and Gautam Gambhir has decided to bowl first. ==================================================================================== Kolkata: After a dazzling opening ceremony which was full of fanfare and fireworks, there can’t be a better opening match than a high-voltage clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils. While KKR are the defending champions, the Daredevils have some of the most established cricketers in their squad. In a thrilling finale, Gambhir and his boys dethroned the mighty Chennai Super Kings by five wickets. As a major setback for the Daredevils, some of their key players aren’t available this year. While Kevin Pietersen will miss the tournament due to a knee injury, Kiwi left-hander Jesse Ryder was out at the last stage after he suffered an assault that left him injured in Christchurch. Apart from international players, Delhi would be deprived from the services of their explosive opener Sehwag who will miss the opener due to back spasms. Players to watch out for: KKR: While many believe he has nothing left to prove, Gautam Gambhir who was axed ahead of the Test series against Australia would be desperate to show the selectors that he still has the zeal and the skills to deliver at the biggest stage. Apart from him, KKR would want their Mr Dependable Jacques Kallis to make significant contributions with the bat and the ball. Just a reminder – Kallis smashed 69 runs off 49 balls in the final last year against the Super Kings. DD: In the absence of some veteran players a lot will depend on the Mahela-Warner duo. Mahela didn’t play a single match in the recently concluded series against Bangladesh and apart from his abilities as a skipper, he would have to score a big knock being the senior player. Warner might have had a forgettable Test series against India but then he is altogether a different player in the shorter version of the game.
