Jaipur: Chennai Super Kings registered a back from the dead victory against Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur to keep alive their chances of qualifying to the IPL playoffs.

Scorecard »I Points table »

It was that main again, Albie Morkel who started the turnaround for CSK in the 17th over clobbering a six and and four off Pankaj Singh then hitting Watson for another six straight over the bowlers head. But it was the ‘Junior’ Chikka, Anirudha Srikanth playing his first match of the season who did a Morkel on Rajasthan slamming a six and a four of Watson then hitting another biggie, the shot of the day off a Shaun Tait’s 147 kmph delivery to take the game away from the Royals.

The duo amassed 35 runs off two overs before leveling the chase at 12 runs from 12 balls.

As it happenend

12: 33 pm Over 19 CSK: 80/6 SIX!!! whatay shot from Anirudh Srikanth. Tait shoots 147 kmph ball, Srikanth shuffles and hoicks the full length ball over deep square leg. Second ball, Tait rattles Srikanth’s stumps but a no ball. Next ball, 5 wides, and Chennai Super Kings come back fromthe dead to seal the low scoring affair.

12: 28 pm Over 18 CSK: 80/6 SIX!!! off the first ball for Morkel, in his hitting zone, half volley, Morkel slams it straight into the sight screen. Anirudh Srikanth gets another SIX!!! off the fourth ball. Short ball outside off stump, Anirudh swirls around and dispatches it to mid wicket fence. FOUR for Anirudh off the fifth ball as Watson bowls a low full toss, the batter gets it past cover. 18 runs off the over.

12: 22 pm Over 17 CSK: 80/6 OUT!!! Pankaj Singh bowls the very crucial over, Jadeja (16) gets a FOUR first ball but perishes on the second ball as he charges down the track, hoists Singh over mid on but finds Botha at long on. But Albie Morkel gets a SIX off the fourth ball and a FOUR!!! off the fifth ball. 17 runs off the over.

12: 13 pm Over 16 CSK: 80/5 OUT!!! Dhoni departs for 10 runs as CSK find themselves in a very precarious position. Dhoni went for a cut off the wide ball but finds Rahane at backward point. Trivedi has definitely changed the game for Rajasthan. He ends his spell with an impressive tally of 4-0-18-2/

12: 07 pm Over 15 CSK: 77/4 FOUR!!! for Dhoni off the first ball. 8 runs of the over.

12: 03 pm Over 14 CSK: 69/4 Massive SIX!!! by Jadeja. That should ease the pressure from CSK. The all rounder charged down the track and clubs it straight over the bowlers head.

11: 55 pm Over 13 CSK: 61/4 OUT!!! Amazing fielding effort from Tait as Michael Hussey (19) departs. The ball hit the pad, Hussey went for the run, Dhoni responded, but the captain sends back Hussey, but by the time he makes his ground, bowler Tait picks up the ball and hits the bulls eye.

11: 50 pm Over 12 CSK: 60/3 OUT!!! Trivedi gets the crucial wicket of Dwayne Bravo (10). Bravo goes for the pull but gets holed out at deep square leg.

Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first against Rajasthan Royals here at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

Upbeat after their two consecutive victories, Rajasthan Royals would aim for a hat-trick of wins and inch closer to a playoffs spot when they take on an insipid Chennai Super Kings in an IPL match here on Thursday.

Rajasthan have the winning momentum with them and have emerged from the shock of four consecutive defeats by posting two impressive wins over Kings XI Punjab and Pune Warriors.

The match will be a keenly-fought contest because a defeat here might just spoil the chances of either team to make it to playoffs.

The team composition for the previous two matches has been remarkable for Rajasthan Royals. With Australian all-rounder Shane Watson and pacer Shaun Tait in the side, they have proved that they are better as a team than their more fancied rivals.

Bravo was leaking runs from the word `go`. If seam is Dhoni`s choice, Morkel who bowled better should have bowled 4 overs and Bravo one less. Alternatively, when Jadeja, the part time spinner bowled well, Ashwin should have got atleast one or 2 overs more. By persisting with Bravo, 10 plus runs gifted. Dhoni`s poor captaincy streak from England tour is continuing.

And Dhoni`s batting.......what to say...he thinks even 100 runs can be scored in last over and till that time batting very leisurely.

Dhoni should be removed from captaincy and possibly from playing 11. This win despite his horrible captaincy and atrocious batting.
