New Delhi: Even though two-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings have replaced their key player Dwayne Bravo with David Hussey, it is yet to be seen whether the Australian all-rounder can get a place in CSK`s star batting line-up.
CSK have been consistent with their four overseas players – Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Smith, Faf du Plessis and Ben Hilfenhaus. The opening pair of Smith and McCullum have laid solid foundations in most of the matches and there is no reason why MS Dhoni will drop either of the two considering their sublime form.
Faf du Plessis is someone who hasn`t got many opportunities to bat this season, but the Proteas T20 skipper has impressed everybody with his electric presence, and has pulled off some blinders.
To strengthen the batting, Dhoni might replace Hilfenhaus with Hussey, as he has plenty of other bowling options in Jadeja, Ashwin, Smith, Raina and Mohit Sharma. But Dhoni doesn`t like experimenting with the winning combination, thus it would be interesting to see whether Hussey, who played for Kings XI Punjab last year, can make his debut for CSK.
Bravo, who has been a key player for CSK over the years, has been ruled out of the tournament after injuring his shoulder while fielding against Kings XI Punjab during CSK`s first match in 2014.
Hussey, who went unsold during IPL 7 auctions, had been involved with the IPL as a television commentator for the host broadcaster.
