New Delhi: The Delhi Daredevils management was so desperate to change it`s fortunes this season, that they didn`t retain any of their players before the auction and even out-rightly ignored their one time skipper and face of the team, Virender Sehwag.

But in the auction, DD used their right-to-match card for the maverick Kevin Pietersen.

Unluckily for DD, their skipper Kevin Pietersen wasn`t fit before the start of the IPL-7 and missed the initial matches of the tournament. In KP`s absence, DD started off their campaign on a poor note as they lost their opening match to Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, in the next match, they beat Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets with three balls to spare.

In the fourth game, KP was fit to lead his franchise but even then Delhi had failed to get the motivation they wanted.

Delhi kept losing, most of the times by big margins, and have so far won just two matches out of ten. Their pathetic show continued this season as well, as a result of which DD are virtually out of the play-off race.

Even the captain-coach duo of KP-Kirsten couldn`t help DD to change their fortunes and the team is right at the bottom in the points table. But one thing is sure, that DD have sheerly disappointed its fans, who wanted the franchise to at least reach the play offs.
