IPL 7: Is Glenn Maxwell ready for play-offs?

New Delhi: The murderous Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell, who initially took the Indian Premier League`s seventh edition to another level by his sterling performances, struggled to hog the lime light in the last few league matches.
The Aussie, who wore the orange cap most of the time in the on-going edition, looked off-colour in the last few matches that Punjab played in the cash-rich League. In the last six matches that the youngster played, he only managed to score 98 runs. In fact, in his last innings against Delhi Daredevils, Maxi got out for a duck.
Another interesting fact that came to notice in his last few innings was his vulnerability against spinners — leg-spinners to be more precise. From Yuzvendra Chahal to Piyush Chawla to Imran Tahir to Amit Mishra to Shreyas Gopal, all got the better of the swashbuckling batsman in the latter part of the league games.
Poor run in the last few matches took the orange cap away from him. By the end of all the league matches, KKR`s opener Robin Uthappa had become the orange cap holder with 613 runs under his belt in 14 matches. Maxwell has held onto the second spot with 533 runs in 13 games.
Though the recent dip in Maxi's form didn`t affect the Punjab side much, who have been in excellent form in all the departments. But in the play-offs, they would want their most prolific batsman to score runs, so that the Kings XI Punjab can lift their maiden IPL trophy this time around.
