New Delhi: After Indian selectors restored their trust in Suresh Raina by calling him back in the ODI outfit for the forthcoming Bangladesh tour, the southpaw celebrated his comeback in style by smashing a match-winning half century on Sunday against Mumbai Indians, in the first eliminator of IPL 7 at Chepauk, Chennai.
After being shown the doors before the Asia Cup, due to the poor run with the bat, Raina made a comeback in the team with the help of his consistent performance in the ongoing IPL 7.
In fact, the very day Indian selectors took the call to to include him back in the fifty-over squad, he hit an unbeaten knock of 54 runs off 33 balls, with the help of four boundaries and two sixes.
For the 27-year-old cricketer, icing on the cake is that he has also been declared the leader of the pack for the Bangladesh tour, where India have to play three ODIs at Mirpur on June 15, 17 and 19.
For the tour most of the senior players have been given a chance to rest their heels before the all important five match Test series in England. So, it would be a chance for the players who have been warming the bench from quite some time to hog the lime light.
Raina has led the Indian ODI squad in the past as well and against the low-profile Bangladesh, it would be a good opportunity for the UP lad to prove his captaincy skills one more time.
