New Delhi: Irrespective of the the side one was one, it was hard not to enjoy that innings from Virender Sehwag. With eight 6`s and twelve 4`s, Viru decimated the CSK attack, enthralling the Wankhede crowds on his way to whirlwind knock of 122 off just 58 balls.

The beauty about this innings was the effortless manner in which Sehwag constructed it. Apart from Ishwar Pandey, every CSK bowler was put to the test by the KXIP opener. Unlike some of his other innings, Sehwag`s approach was measured and he hardly gave the opposition any chance to get him out.

In the build up to this match, there was a lot said and written about the Maxwell-Ashwin dual. The CSK spinner did manage to get the scalp of Maxwell after he was dispatched for a massive six by the Aussie. The atmosphere got a bit heated up as Ashwin decided to give Maxwell a send-off. Maxwell was understandably furious.

However, Viru as always stayed calm and continued pulverizing all the men in yellow who bowled at him. Today was not about Maxwell. It was about Sehwag. And in true Sehwag fashion, he got to his hundred giving a caught and bowled chance to Pandey off a low full-toss. Fortunately for him and all those rooting for Sehwag, Pandey could not complete the catch despite reaching low and making contact with the ball.

Finally the entertainment for the night was over when Ashish Nehra dismissed Viru. The most endearing moment of the KXIP innings arrived when Sehwag spoke to a presenter after the completion of the innings. He said: Whenever I went there to bat, and got out early, I got a call from my wife. My son`s friends were also teasing him about his father not scoring runs, I told him, "hold on beta, there is still time" Last couple of games I wanted to focus on my batting, I had to win at least one game for Kings XI Punjab"

Things like these making Viru one of the most loved cricketers on the circuit. If you needed further proof of how every almost everyone cutting across teams was rooting for Viru, have a look at these tweets from his counterparts.
