Chennai: In the latest development in the IPL match-fixing case, the Tamil Nadu Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) on Friday issued fresh summons to accused Gurunath Meiyappan, Vindoo Dara Singh and hotelier Vikram Aggarwal. The CB-CID notice to all accused was sent shortly after the Tamil Nadu government suspended senior police officer G Sampath Kumar – who had earlier probed IPL betting case before it was handed over to CB-CID, for allegedly receiving money from a bookie. Following startling revelations made by Bollywood actor Vindu Dara Singh in a sting operation conducted by the Zee Media Corp on match-fixing in the IPL tournaments, the CB-CID had on Wednesday claimed that an investigation covering all “relevant factors” into the matter is under progress. The Justice Mudgal panel, which probe the IPL betting case, had claimed that the involvement of Gurunath Meiyappan in the match fixing has “ not been investigated thoroughly by the ICC-ACSU, BCCI’s ACU or the CB-CID of the Chennai Police though some information was available for such an investigation to be conducted.” Justice Mudgal panel had made these observations in its report submitted to the Supreme Court.
