IPL scam: One more bookie arrested

The accused, Devendra Kothari, wanted in the case, was picked up in Jaipur by a team of Mumbai police and arrested after he was brought to this city late Wednesday. He was produced before a Mumbai magistrate who remanded him to a week`s custody till July 31. According to police, Kothari was allegedly placed bets on cricket matches through his relatives - Pawan and Sanjay Chhabra, famous as `Jaipur brothers` in betting circles. Police also recorded the statements of the Chhabras Thursday, the official said. Kothari, with cases registered against him in Jaipur, was reportedly in touch with bookies in Pakistan through one of his associates, bookie Ramesh Vyas, who is also under arrest. Those arrested by Muambai police in the IPL-6 scam probe include bookie and Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh Randhawa, Chennai Super Kings owner Gurunath Meiyappan - the son-in-law of BCC chief N. Srinivasan and several bookies. Both Vindoo and Meiyappan are currently out on bail. IANS
