IPL spot-fixing: Arrested bookie reveals names of more Indian cricketers involved

Mumbai: The IPL spot-fixing saga is getting murkier with each passing day. Catch all the day's events as they unfolded. #Jt CP Crime Mumbai Police, Himanshu Roy said in a press conference that the investigation is progressing in the right direction. He also spoke of taking voice samples of Gurunath Meiyappan and bringing him face to face with Vindoo Dara Singh. A few items have to be recovered which will help the police take the investigation to it's logical conclusion. #BCCI chief N Srinivasan has reportedly reached Kolkata. CAB president Jagmohan Dalmiya is hosting a dinner party tonight and Srinivasan is expected to attend the party. #According to reports, Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma will not be attending the pre-final press conference. #According to the Delhi Police, bookie Mohd Yahya, who was arrested from from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad while he was trying to flee to Dubai, has revealed names of more Indian cricketers who had been in touch with. #Law Minister Kapil Sibal on Saturday said that the goverment will bring a law to deal with unfair practices in sports. "Union government has the power to enact law against unfair practices in sports. A-G has adviced us that though we can amend the Penal Code to incorporate new offence to deal with such practices. However, it would be better to enact a standalone legislation for unfair practices in sports," Kapil Sibal said during a press conference on Saturday on the issue of brining a law against unfair practices in sports like match-fixing. He further said that the government is committed to bringing this law as soon as possible. # Gurunath Meiyappan has been sent in Police custody till May 29. # Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath says that in wake of the massive IPL scandal, Srinivasan must resign from the post of BCCI's president. His position has become untenable. # Srinivasan has spoken to the media for the first time since the arrest of his son-in-law in the spot fixing case. He reiterated that he has no intention of resigning and won't be bulldozed into doing it. "I have done nothing wrong. I have no intention of resigning. Chennai Super Kings, however, sought to distance itself from Meiyappan, whose name cropped up during questioning of Bollywood actor Vindu Dara Singh Randhawa, the franchise saying Meiyappan was neither the chief executive nor the team principal and was just an honorary member of the management committee.
