Indian Premier League: In Lasith Malinga's absence, Mitchell McClenaghan doing a brilliant job for Mumbai Indians

New Delhi: While Lasith Malinga's injury came as a huge blow for defending champions Mumbai Indians ahead of Indian Premier League 2016, Mitchell McClenaghan has filled the Sri Lankan's shoes extremely well for the Rohit Sharma-led side so far in the tournament.

McClenaghan, who has a knack of picking wickets just like the slinger, was pivotal in Mumbai's brilliant win against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday.

While he was Mumbai's most ecomomical bowler (2/25), he followed it with a stupendous 8-ball 20 cameo which came as a huge shock for Gautam Gambhir & Co.

It was a massive win for Mumbai, considering their poor start in the previous editions, where they have lost more than four consecutive matches in the last couple of years.

The win came as a huge relief for the defending champions after they were crushed by 9 wickets by Rising Pune Supergiants in their opening encounter.

Even though he was the unsung hero at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday, he certainly made a point and is one of the players to watch out for in this tournament.
