But Pathan continued to play his usual game. Played it late to generate enoug pace to beat the man at short third man. Then a couple off a lofted shot. 16 runs from it.

Over 16 ||  119/4 (Pathan 23; Russell 1)

Mishra did enough to contain the run flow, with two singles from the remaining four balls. 10 runs from it.

Over 15 ||  109/4 (Pathan 14; Russell 0)

Albie Morkel returned to attack. The South African started with a good slower ball to deceive a shuffling Piyush Chawla. Dangerous Andre Russell joined Patha at the centre.

Over 14 ||  102/3 (Chawla 21; Pathan 8)

A wild heave resulted in a six form Yusuf. Such is his power. Yuvraj Singh was at the receiving end of it. Chawla started with a single off Yuvi's second over. Then, Pathan hit that six over the covers. With a leg bye and three more singles, KKR added 11 runs from the over, and crossed 100-run mark.

Over 13 ||  91/3 (Chawla 18; Pathan 1)

Delhi carried on with Mathews. Pathan played out three dot balls, before a contentious decision saved Pathan. A quicker delivery, on the leg, flew off like it has been came off the bat. Over 12 ||  83/3 (Chawla 12; Pathan 1)

Yuvraj Singh gets his first wicket on 2015 Indian Premier League. The left-arm spinner got the better of Manis Pandey - an arm ball, dragged into the stumps.

Yusuf Pathan joined Chawla in the centre.

Over 11 ||  79/2 (Pandey 20; Chawla 11)

Duminy introduced Angelo Mathews. The Sri Lankan soon got into the rhythm, producing slower deliveries at will. After four deliveries resulting in two singles, Mathews produced a bouncer, which took Chawla by surprise. Chawla lost his footing but the ball went pretty fast off the bat, and crashed into the advertising hoarding at deep fine leg. Seven runs from it.

Over 10 ||  72/2 (Pandey 16; Chawla 5)

Piyush Chawla, despite all the claims of his batting abilities, looked clueless facing Imran Tahir out there. Pandey played a late cut for a single, then the Indian played out a dot ball, before scampering for a double. A wide followed from Tahir. Then, Chawla showed the real purpose of his being there. Pinch-hitting. He lofted one high. Nine run from it.

Over 9 ||  63/2 (Pandey 16; Chawla 0)

Duminy continued with Mishra. A experienced bowler mixed up his deliveries, trying to out-thought the batsman. And the result, wicket of Robin Uthappa. Mishra caught Uthappa plumb in front with a straighter off the last delivery of the over.

WICKET: Robin Uthappa lbw b Amit Mishra 32 (31b)

And Piyush Chawla is the new man. Surprise. Spinner for spin.

Brilliant over. One run, and the wicket of Uthappa.

Over 8 ||  62/1 (Uthappa 32; Pandey 15)

Double change from Delhi. JP Duminy introduced their main weapon Imran Tahir. But Pandey was ready for the googly master. he welcomed the South African with a massive six over the midwicket boundary. The over yielded five more runs, three singles and a couple, to make it a big one for the batting team.

Over 7 ||  51/1 (Uthappa 29; Pandey 7)

Brilliant first over from Amit Mishra. Only one run conceded as the India spinner played with Kolkata batsman. Manish Pandey consumed three balls for the single, then Uthappa eat up the remaining three for a naught.

Time-Out

Over 6 ||  50/1 (Uthappa 29; Pandey 6)

An eventful over to end the Power-play. New batsman Pandey started with a lofted straight drive for his first boundary. A dot from Morkel, before a single. Then Yuvraj Singh, the fielder, dropped Uthappa at short mid-wicket, and two runs from the missed chance. Uthappa played safe next ball, for a dot. The over ended with a beautiful straight drive from Uthappa, for four runs. 11 runs from it.

Over 5 ||  39/1 (Uthappa 23; Pandey 1)

Persistance paid off for Delhi. Zaheer Khan got the wicket of dangerous Gautam Gambhir. The Kolkata skipper was caught stand-still against a moving ball. Zaheer's away swing got a faint edge for Kedar Jadhav to complete the caught behind.

WICKET: Gautam Gambhir c Kedar Jadhav b Zaheer Khan 12 (10b)

That was the third delivery of the over.

Manish Pandey joined Uthappa in the centre. Great over from Zaheer. Two runs from it, and the wicket of Gambhir.

Over 4 ||  37/0 (Uthappa 22; Gambhir 12)

Delhi skipper Jean-Paul Duminy brought himself into the attack. The South African received a rude welcome from his opposite number Gautam Gambhir, who hit back-to-back fours through the covers. Then, after a single and a dot ball later, Uthappa hoisted the first six of the match, over long-on boundary. A run off the last delivery, and 16 runs from it.

Over 3 ||  21/0 (Uthappa 15; Gambhir 3)

Zaheer continued from the same end. Gambhir pushed the lenght delivery towards cover for a single. Then, Uthappa played an exquisite leg glance for a four to the square leg boundary. Zaheer strayed down, on the off, but Uttappa's crunching drive found Jean-Paul Duminy at the covers. Of the next delivery, Uthappa got a healthy edge for another boundary at the third man boundary. Zaheer replied with a slower ball, then an off cutter from around the wicket. Nine runs from it.

In between, a stray dog in the middle of the pitch, doing it's own field setting.

Over 2 ||  12/0 (Uthappa 7; Gambhir 2)

Fatal mixed-up, or at least, by the look of it. Uthappa played a defensive push from the front foot as Albie Morkel's first delivery pitched just about in perfect line and length. But what was Gautam thinking. He was half-way into the pitch, calling for a single. But the fielding team failed to effect the run-out. After two balls, Uthappa scampered for a single, with the fielder from mid-on hitting the stumps at the bowling end. After a single, Morkel bowled a wide, then off the fifth official ball, Uthappa survived a thick outside edge and added four runs. First boundary of the match. A dot to end the over.

Over 1 ||  5/0 (Uthappa 2; Gambhir 1)

After an elaborate 10-to count-down, Zaheer Khan started the proceedings, as expected. The left-arm seamer failed to control the movement, and a wide on leg to begin. He followed it up with a delivery, which was shaping away from the right-handed Robin Uthappa. Then, Uthappa played a flick, from the middle for a single. After a dot ball to Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer once again failed to control the movement, second wide of the over. A slower delivery followed, which was missed by Gambhir. But Zaheer ended the over with a couple of singles. Five runs from it.

By the look of the team line-up, it's going to be a spinning track. KKR have five spinners and DD also got four, including JP Duminy and Yuvraj Singh.

The big news ahead of the match, is Sunil Narine is back. The West Indian was cleared by the Indian cricket board with a final warning. And the big question is, will he or won't he?
