IPL 9: Ravindra Jadeja hails Brendon McCullum, Aaron Finch for flying start vs Rising Pune Supergiants

New Delhi: Gujarat Lions spinner Ravindra Jadeja on Friday hailed his team's openers Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum for getting team off to a flying start against Rising Pune Supergiants in Match 6 of the tournament.

After beating the MS Dhoni-led side comprehensively by 7 wickets, Jadeja said, "Finch and McCullum are power-hitters and they gave us a flying start by adding 85 runs in less then nine overs that eased the pressure on the middle-order batsmen."

The deadly opening pair made a mockery of RPS's 163-run total by adding 85 runs for the opening wicket in just 8.3 overs.

Jadeja further added the openers made sure that there was no need to go for big shots for the batsmen to follow.

"After getting a flying start from the openers, there was no need to go for a big shots," the southpaw said.

Gujarat Lions, who are making their debut this season, will now take on defending champions Mumbai Indians in Match 9 on April 16.
