Kolkata skipper Gautam Gambhir played a brilliant innings as the two-time champions beat Hyderabad by 8 wickets with 10 balls remaining in the match.

After losing the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to a below par total of 142 runs with Umesh Yadav taking three wickets. For the hosts, Eoin Morgan top scored with 51 off 43.

The 143-run target proved little too less daunting with KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir in such sublime form. His unbeaten 90 came off 60 balls, and it was his second fifty of the season, in third match.

Gautam Gambhir hit a four off the second ball to complete the chase. Convincing win.

Huge over for KKR as Gautam Gambhir showed his hitting prowess after playing a prolonged waiting game. 14 runs from Mustafizur Rahman's last over. His figures: 4-0-29-1.

The over included a four and six, besides four singles. KKR now need a single, and they have 12 balls.


Over 17 || Score 128/2 (Gambhir 74; Pandey 9); Target 143

Final over for Bhuvi and a good one. Five runs from it, thanks to five singles.

His figures: 4-0-29-0. A bad day in office for the India pacer.

KKR need another 15 runs.

Another productive over for KKR with skipper Gautam Gambhir in charge. The left-handed opener once again hit back-to-back fours.

11 runs from Barinder Sran's last over. His figures: 4-0-31-0.

KKR need another 20 runs from 24 runs when the play resumes after the break.

After losing two wickets, KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir took the matters into his own hands and hit two more fours, off successive balls of the bowling of Ashish Reddy.

The over went for 12 runs as KKR inched ever more closely to the target.

Then probably the ball of the tournament. Mustafizur Rahman uprooted Andre Russell's middle stump with an unplayable delivery. A perfect yorker, and the big West Indian is floored. What a sight.

The much-needed wicket for SunRisers Hyderabad. Ashish Reddy removed Robin Uthappa, trapped LBW. Umpire took some time, but a correct one.

That happened off the third ball of the over. A wicket and two runs from it. Andre Russell is the new man. Also Gautam Gambhir reached his second fifty of the season, with a single  off the first ball of the over. He took 41 balls to reach it.

Mustafizur Rahman returned for his second over, and what an over from the Bangladeshi bowler. Five runs to stall the run rate. A wide, and four singles.

But it still is KKR's match to lose. They need need another 52 runs from 48 balls.

First real big over for KKR as Gautam Gambhir chaged the gear at Played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad.

The skipper hit Karn Sharma for three successive fours, off the second, third and four deliveries of the over. 14 runs from the over. Gambhir three shy from yet another IPL fifty.

Having laid the foundation, KKR openers have started going after Sunrisers bowlers. In the last two overs, the visitors have score 22 runs, 11 apiece.

In search of a wicket, David Warner brought back Bhuvi into the attack. But to no avail. Same with Moises Henriques' case too, as Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa milked the bowlers with singles and occasional fours.

KKR need another 71 runs from 60 balls.

Double bowling change for the fielding team as David Warner introduced Moises Henriques. The right-arm fast medium bowler leaked eight runs in his first over, before the time-out.

The over started with a dot ball to Robin Uthappa, the a single. Gautam Gambhir took a 2 off the third ball, then hit a four through mid-wicket region.

A single and a dot ball to end the over. KKR need another 93 runs from 12 over, and all wickets at hand.

KKR scored 14 more runs in the last two overs, even as Barinder Sran bowled completed third of his allotted four overs. In his third over, and sixth of the innings, Sran conceded eight runs, which included a four from the blade of Gautam Gambhir.

In the next over, David Warner introduced spinner Karn Sharma. Six runs from it.

In this period, bulk of the scoring is done by Gambhir.

Sensation from Bangladesh Mustafizur Rahman has had his first over of the match. The left-handed seamer conceded three runs.

The over started with two singles, then a dot ball followed before another single coming from Robin Uthappa's blade. Then a brief hiatus as physio attending to the KKR opener. Energy sapping heat taking toll on players.

Two dot balls to Gautam Gambhir to end the over.

Good bowling from both Bhuvi and Barinder. They have completed two overs each, conceding 13 and 12 runs respectively.

In the last two overs, KKR scored 12 runs, six apiece. They need another 118 runs from 16 overs.

Barinder Sran shared the new ball with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Good start from the 23-year-old left-arm medium pacer to concede six runs.

The over started with a wide, then Robin Uthappa followed it up with a single. Then three dot balls to Gautam Gambhir. KKR skipper played an effective pull shot to spoil Barinder's effort with a four. A dot to finish the over.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar started the defence, with a 2 to Robin Uthappa. A dot ball followed, than Uthappa got the first four of the innings. A good looking slice shot which went past the fielder at backward point.

A single then KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir ate up the remaining two balls for naught.

Russell bowled the last over. Superb stuff from the all-rounder, conceding just 7 runs.

Umesh came back into the attack. The Indian pacer got the all-important wicket of Morgan on his fourth ball. Ashish Reddy clobbered the last delivery for a six.

Morkel continued. Good over from the South African was ruined by Morgan with a six off the last ball. However, he did pick up the wicket of Ojha.

Shakib continued. After a tight first five deliveries, the left-arm spinner was tonked for a six over long-off on the last ball.

Morkel was brought back into the attack. Ojha clobbered the fifth ball for a massive six over third man. Super batting from the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman.

Narine completed his quota. Ojha hit the first six off the match with a slog sweep over the midwicket boundary. The off-spinner's figures read: 4-0-26-0

Piyush Chawla bowled the 14th over. SRH picked up boundaries off the first and last ball of the leg-spinner. The home side is finally gaining some momentum.

Narine bowled his third over. SRH finally got a move on, as Morgan scored back-to-back boundaries off the West Indian. Need a lot more of this.

Russell bowled his third over. Naman Ojha guided the fourth ball to the third man region to score his first boundary.

Narine continued. SRH batsmen are struggling to get him away. Excellent stuff from the off-spinner.

Russell continued. The dangerous Deepak Hooda was dismissed by the West Indies. Wickets continue to fall at regular intervals for the home side. KKR in control.

Shakib Al Hasan continued. Another excellent over from the Bangladeshi as he gave away only 5 runs.
