New Delhi: India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja began the most important innings of his life on Sunday, as he tied the nuptial knot with Reeva Solanki in Rajkot.

As Jaddu arrived on a horse, celebratory gunshots were fired by those around him, inviting attention of the local police.

Even Jadeja himself nearly fell off the horse, after the animal panicked due to the sound of gunshots fired in the air.

A police team from the Lodhika Police Station has reportedly reached the venue after the control room got the message of the firing.

"We got the message from our control room. We are checking the footage. Even if shots are fired from a licensed weapon, it can be done only in self-defence. The offence, if proved, can lead to a jail sentence of 3 years," PSI of the Lodhika Police Station was quoted as saying in an IBN7 report.

A day before his wedding, Jadeja was also seen brandishing a sword as part of the sangeet celebrations.

According to a report on Mid-Day, pre-wedding rituals were carried out on Saturday at a hotel in Rajkot.

Jaddu's sisters — Nainaba and Padminiba along with other female members of the family performed these rituals, which included vedic chants by priests and wedding songs sung by ladies.

Jadeja and Solanki got engaged in the first week of February earlier this year.
