Trouble for Ravindra Jadeja! Cops arrive following celebratory gunfire at wedding procession

New Delhi: Celebratory gunshots at Indian all-rounder Ravindra's Jadeja's marriage celebrations in Rajkot have invited unwanted controversy on Sunday.

Video footages from the marriage procession shown Jadeja himself nearly thrown off the horse, after the animal panicked due to the gunshots fired in the air by the Indian cricketer's relatives.

A police team from the Lodhika Police Station has reportedly reached the venue after the control room got the message of the firing.

According to an IBN7 report, "The incident was followed by police arriving at the site to launch an inquiry."

"We got the message from our control room. We are checking the footage. Even if shots are fired from a licensed weapon, it can be done only in self-defence. The offence, if proved, can lead to a jail sentence of 3 years," PSI of the Lodhika Police Station was quoted as saying in the report.

Yesterday, Jadeja showed off his skills with the sword, and many were impressed with his talwar-baazi skills during his sangeet ceremony.

The 27-year-old will tie the knot with his fiancee Reeva Solanki, an UPSC aspirant, on Sunday.

Pre-wedding rituals were carried out yesterday at a hotel in Rajkot.

Jaddu's sisters — Nainaba and Padminiba along with other female members of the family performed these rituals, which included vedic chants by priests and wedding songs sung by ladies.

The all-rounder's close friends MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Dwayne Bravo and other Indian players will arrive in Rajkot to attend Jadeja's reception.

Jadeja and Solanki got engaged in the first week of February earlier this year.
