New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore Virat Kohli on Saturday could break another batting record of his idol Sachin Tendulkar.

The right-hander is 67 runs shot of reaching the 500-run mark in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League.

Should he get there, the Delhi batsman will became the only captain to score over 500 runs in three seasons of the league.

Former Mumbai Indians skipper Tendulkar achieved this feat on two occasions.

At the moment, the 27-year-old is assured of at least fives games to score these runs.

Kohli, with 433 runs, currently holds the Orange Cap. He scored 634 and 505 runs in 2013 and 2015 respectively.

This year, Virat has the perfect chance to break the record (currently held by him only) for highest runs scored by a captain in a single IPL season.

Tendulkar accumulated 618 and 553 runs in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

List of other IPL skipper to break the 500-run barrier in a single season also includes KKR's Gautam Gambhir and SHR's David Warner.
